Superbowl Information / Update

Tenant Advisory

Super Bowl Update/Closures
December 28, 2012

On February 3, 2013, the City of New Orleans will host Super Bowl XLVII.  What a great time for our city!!!  The primary areas for events during the Super Bowl will be along the river, around the Superdome and in the French Quarter. Since our buildings are across the street from the Superdome, 1515 & 1555 Buildings and Parking Garages will be directly affected. In preparation for the Super Bowl, the JLL 1515/1555 Management Office has been in communication with the City of New Orleans, the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, the Super Bowl Host Committee, New Orleans Homeland Security and NOPD to ensure that access to 1515/1555 Poydras Buildings and Parking Garages will be available for as long as possible.

Beginning on Saturday, January 5, 2013, as preparations for Super Bowl XLVII move into final stages, commuters and visitors to the downtown New Orleans area will begin to see road closures as well as exit closures near the Mercedes-Benz Superdome area. Please note that these are planned closures and at any time, as the Super Bowl approaches, additional closures may occur. You will find below information relative to traffic plans for the Super Bowl, as well as information regarding 1515/1555 building and parking garage access, placards (permitted access to closed off areas), deliveries, 1515/1555 shuttle service, etc.

Note:  On Super Bowl Sunday, only ticketed Super Bowl patrons will be allowed to access the Super Dome area encompassing Poydras Street, Champion Square and the Arena areas.

CRITICALLY IMPORTANT BUILDING INFORMATION:

BUILDING AND PARKING GARAGE ACCESS

·        Regular access is anticipated for 1515 and 1555 buildings and garages through 7PM on Friday, February 1, 2013.

·        Beginning February 1, 2013 @ 7PM through February 4, 2013 @ 7AM, access to the properties will be by placards only for the parking garages.  While 1515/1555 Poydras Buildings will be open to tenants with after-hours building card access, it is strongly advised that everyone avoid coming to the building on the weekend of the Super Bowl due to the heightened security around the Superdome and the numerous street closures that are subject to increase based on the actual vehicular and pedestrian traffic levels experienced.

PLACARDS

Placards grant access to closed off areas surrounding the Super Bowl. Anyone without a placard on their dashboard of their vehicle will not be allowed to enter closed off streets.

·        If your firm requires access to the 1515/1555 Buildings/Parking Garages during the Super Bowl weekend, you must request placards in order to be granted access by vehicle.

·        All tenant requests for placards must be made via email no later than Sunday, January 6, 2013 at 3:00PM.  This deadline has been set by NOPD.  Therefore, it is critical that you review your needs and immediately respond.  Placards will be issued on a first come first serve basis.  Send your request to Michelle Dolese at michelle.dolese@am.jll.com.  Access will not be guaranteed if request is not submitted on time.

DELIVERIES

If your office has scheduled shipments or deliveries of supplies, it is suggested that you consider early delivery dates in January as the ability of delivery services to maintain their usual delivery times and schedules may be impacted by the Super Bowl preparations and road closures.  There will be no deliveries or move ins/outs schedule the weekend of Super Bowl weekend.

SHUTTLE BUS SERVICES

The Shuttle Bus route will be affected by the street closures leading up to the Super Bowl weekend.

·        Starting January 28, 2013 the Shuttle Bus will not make a stop in front of the Superdome due to River-bound Poydras Street and Sugar Bowl Drive being closed. Note:  Any parkers at the Super Dome will have to make other parking arrangements during this time.  Please contact our Parking Office at (504) 585-2686 for parking assistance.

·        Shuttle services to the Superdome will resume Monday, February 4, 2013 at 7:15 AM.

CRITICALLY IMPORTANT ROAD CLOSURES INFORMATION:

Saturday, January 5 - Saturday, January 25, 2013

Superdome Exit, Dave Dixon Dr., Magnolia, W Stadium, Howard and Sugar Bowl Dr. will all be closed.

o   If you're traveling from the east heading toward downtown, it is recommended you take the Canal Street Exit.

o   If you’re traveling from the west, it is recommended you continue on I-10E/US90 Pontchartrain Expressway and take the Loyola exit or the Claiborne Avenue exit near the Mercedes-Benz Superdome which will also be open.

Saturday, January 26 - Friday, February 1, 2013 7PM
Moving closer to Super Bowl weekend, traffic restrictions near the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will expand. Commuters and visitors will be most affected by the closure of the river-bound lanes of Poydras Street from LaSalle to South Claiborne. Poydras exit 234B from I-10 east and Poydras exit off Claiborne will also be closed during this time.
The best options for residents who work in the area near the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will be to take the Loyola exit from the Pontchartrain Expressway and use Loyola Avenue to get to other downtown streets, including the lake-bound lanes of Poydras, which will remain open during this time. Garages at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will remain accessible from a portion of West Stadium Drive.

Wednesday, January 30 - Monday, February 4, 2013
Due to heavy pedestrian traffic, a portion of exterior streets will be closed to most traffic in the French Quarter from 7pm to 7am. Only residents and business owners and customers will be allowed to enter during those times. In addition, a portion of interior streets will be closed to all traffic. Only emergency vehicles will be allowed to enter during those times.

Friday, February 1, 2013 7PM-Monday, February 4, 2013 7AM
o   Traffic restrictions intensify Super Bowl weekend. Streets surrounding the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and in the immediate area will close as officials set up a security perimeter.  This will affect building access and require permit placards to access 1515 & 1555 Poydras.
o   Both river-bound and lake-bound lanes of Poydras will be closed off from Loyola Ave to Claiborne Ave. Sugar Bowl Dr., Poydras Plaza, LeRouge St. and Julia St. will also be closed.
o   There will be restricted access to portions of Clara St., Magnolia St., S. Robertson, Freret St., LaSalle St. and Girod St.

Sunday, February 3, 2012 Game Day
On game day, the area immediately surrounding the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will be a no-drive zone.
o   Because of the numerous street closures and limited parking, the best option for fans headed to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome is to take public transportation or walk to the dome.
o   People who need to drive will be able to take the Loyola exit from the Pontchartrain Expressway or the Vieux Carre or Esplanade exits from I-10 East.
o   All lanes of Poydras Street will be closed from St. Charles Avenue to S. Galvez Street, other street closures are Lafayette St. from Claiborne Ave. to S. Galvez, a portion of S. Prieur St. and Girod St starting from Loyola Ave.
o    Portions of LaSalle Street, Freret Street, South Robertson Street, Magnolia Street and Clara Street near the dome and arena will be restricted until 11:00AM.
o   Streets on the downtown side of Tulane Avenue and the river side of Rampart Street will be the best option for game day drivers.

**The City of New Orleans is recommending that those individuals that can carpool or take public transportation do so to reduce the traffic around the Superdome leading up to the Super Bowl.**

For additional information to street closures, please refer to the City of New Orleans website

Time Change

Greetings

It is almost time to turn back our clocks, as Daylight Saving Time ends on November 4th, for everyone in the USA and Canada. The United Kingdom ends daylight saving time on October 28, and so does Ireland.

At 2 am, we “fall back” and gain an extra hour of sleep or partying, depending on who you are.
The seven month period of daylight saving time is mandated by governments, which began implementing the time switch during World Wars I and II to save energy and resources for the war effort.
From World War II until recently, daylight saving in the U.S. ran from April until mid-October.
In 2007, Congress adjusted daylight saving time to begin three weeks earlier and end one week later — a move they hoped would help save energy.

Enjoy the extra hour this weekend!!
