PLEASE CONSIDER MAKING A BLOOD REPLACEMENT FOR 6 YEAR OLD HALEIGH MARTIN
On July 10, 2012, Haleigh was diagnosed with a rare disease known as Moyamoya. Moyamoya syndrome is a disease in which certain arteries in the brain are constricted. Blood flow is blocked by the constriction, and also by blood clots (thrombosis). In children it tends to cause strokes or seizures. Haleigh had brain surgery on September 4th and for an indefinite period will require ongoing medical checks for at least another year.
Blood transfusions potentially may be an
important part of her ongoing medical if her blood counts decline or her immune
system becomes compromised.
