Going Green Initiative 2014 - Bead Drive and Earth Hour

Tenant Memo: Going Green Initiative

Earth Hour 2014: Use Your Power & Go Beyond the Hour

1515/1555 Poydras & the JLL Management Team are working towards A Cleaner Tomorrow! We will be playing a vital role in Earth Hour 2014 and you can help us not only participate in Earth Hour but to also Go Beyond the Hour to have a Cleaner Tomorrow too!

1515/1555 plans to show our support for our planet. We are challenging our Tenants and Vendors to take part in their very own Earth Hour!  This is not just to save power for an hour, but it’s a change of attitude and lifestyle.  If we, along with billions of others around the world express our concern over our ecological crisis & climate change and be a bit more environmentally friendly, the planet will be a much better place during our lives and our children’s lives.

How do you participate?

Now – April 4th

Prior to Earth Hour, 1515/1555 Poydras Buildings and JLL Management will Use our Power and Go Beyond the Hour by hosting a BEAD DRIVE.

Beginning March 13th through April 4th, Tenants and Vendors are encouraged to bring in those unwanted Mardi Gras Beads to be recycled and donated to ARC of Greater New Orleans.

ARC is a 501K organization that provides various services throughout the entire Greater New Orleans community including Early Intervention, Family Services Coordination, Respite, Personal Care, Employment/Habilitation and Supported Living assistance.

Arc asks for donations of beads and throws from area residents that are then sorted, packaged by people with intellectual disabilities and sold to float riders in 30-pound crawfish sacks. JLL is asking for your help to assist Arc of GNO and the Sierra Club as they recycle Mardi Gras beads, trinkets, and stuffed animals for the Carnival Seasons, and keep them out of the landfills!!

At the office…

1st…before leaving your office March 28th, please turn off all unnecessary lights in the office. (Janitorial will assist in this effort as well by turning off lights as they finish cleaning on this evening.)

2nd…turn off your computers, computer screens and printers.

3rd …turn off any unnecessary office equipment and unplug the transformers.  Did you know that transformer plugs continue to drain power when left plugged in and not in use?

At home…

1st…do the same type of things identified above for your office at home.

2nd…go through each room of your home and see what you can turn off or unplug.

3rd…make it a party with candle lights, cookouts, crawfish boils and bon fires.

4th…encourage family, friends and others to take part in Earth Hour 2014.

What is Earth Hour?

Earth Hour 2014 will be held on Saturday 29 March between 8:30PM and 9:30PM in your local time zone. The event is held worldwide towards the end of March annually, encouraging individuals, communities households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol for their commitment to the planet. Earth Hour goes a step further by incorporating Earth Hour Blue, which asks participants to go beyond the hour and create other ways of making your community more sustainable.

The JLL Management Team thanks everyone who plans to take part—and to everyone who continues to support the environment to help ensure a sustainable future for our families, our firms and our planet.

For more information on Earth Hour and Earth Hour Blue visit http://www.earthhour.org/.

Thanks again,

JLL Management Team
